For All Your Photographic Assignments

Peter Dixon has been taking professional photographs for over 40 years. Using his own darkroom he produced black and white prints for local estate agents with a turn-round time of less than 24 hours from getting the order. He found houses a bit static so after a year started to take motorsport pictures for local papers and had articles published in national magazines. Weddings were the next string to be added to his bow and this work still continues.

As his daughters persued their hobbies, dance competitions and equestrian events added more dimensions to his photographic career. About this time Peter became interested in local government and the boring way they presented their image. For more than 20 years he was the main photographer for one Local Authority and also did work for several others. This diverse work included aerial photography for planning and highway projects, evidence for prosecutions, publicity portraits of new mayors and landscape photographs to decorate the offices. Many of his photographs have been published in award winning presentations and newsletters.

Portraits and pets became a natural extension to his work although he prefers to work out-of-doors rather than within the confines of a studio. This he finds to be more challenging than simply arranging the lights, sticking the camera on a tripod and pressing the button.

Motorsport has once again come to the forefront of his business as he follows this year's  Texaco Havoline Ginetta Championship to provide action shots from the events.

Although Peter doesn't often tackle 'landscape' photography he rather likes this particular shot taken at Bosham near Chichester.
